Taman Mini Indonesia
Indah (TMII) or "Beautiful Indonesia
Miniature Park" (literally translated) is a culture-based recreational area located in East Jakarta, Indonesia. It has an area of
about 250 acres (1.0 km2). The park is a synopsis of Indonesian culture, with virtually all
aspects of daily life in Indonesia's 26 (in 1975) provinces encapsulated in
separate pavilions with the collections ofIndonesian
architecture,
clothing, dances and traditions are all depicted impeccably. Apart from that,
there is a lake with a miniature of the archipelago in the middle of it, cable
cars, museums, KeongEmas Imax cinema, a theater called the Theatre of My
Homeland (Theater Tanah Airku) and other recreational facilities which
make TMII one of the most popular tourist destinations in the
city. Since 2007 Taman Mini Indonesia Indah launched new logo with branding
slogan Pesona Indonesia ("Indonesian Charm"). On
December 31, 2014 World Peace Committee decided TMII as International
Civilization Park and World Peace Theme Park.
We, the sixth group,
chose TMII as tourist attractions we will visit. We traveled towards TMII on
Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Since that day we did not have class schedules, so we
decided to go right then. The location itself is not too far from home.
It took about 1 hour
to get there. Then we went through the first door. The price of admission TMII
is not so expensive, only Rp 10,000, - per person, and Rp 6,000, - for a motorcycle.
Without holding a map, we surrounded TMII for some twenty minutes, looking
around every tourist attraction presented by TMII.
Finally we stopped
right in front of the temple “Kong Miao“. Temple “Kong Miao" is a place of
religious worship Confucius. This temple is located right behind the Keong Mas
Imax Theater. This temple has three core buildings, namely Tian Tan ( Holy
Altar ), Da Cheng Dian ( Temple of the Great Prophet ), and Fu Qi Dian ( Temple
Blessing ) . This temple was inaugurated on December 23, 2010.
We chose this place
than anywhere else because we were curious about the Confucian religion is not
as big as other religions. The place of worship is not so different from the
shrine / temple in general. The red color is the color that has been typical
for Chinese people into the temple's base color. The front bottom Kong Miao
temple there is a statue of the tongue Kilin propping a book. Kilin is a
mythical creature body like a deer, head and scaly dragon, and dark green, which
supposedly only manifest itself at birth and death of Confuncius.
We were very curious
to see the inside of this temple. However, there is a sign that warns that the
only people who are allowed to enter the temple are the prayer. We also need to
remove footwear for stomping on the floor of this temple.
Not some later a car
stopped in front of the entrance of the temple. A grandfather and grandmother
got out of the car. Then they walked into the temple as he spoke a language we didn’tunderstand
. At first we thought they were foreign tourists. The grandfather seemed to
explained a lot of things to grandma.
then we approached
them and asked in English . Apparently these grandparents have long lived in
Indonesia and is fluent in Indonesian . This grandfather's name is Li Dishi,
and grandmother's name is Wang Chun Hua . They live in Cibubur and it’s not too
far for them to go to this temple. The purpose of the grandfather came to the
temple is to showed the contents of the temple and the intention of several
letters in hanzi displayed in the temple .
He even told us the
meaning of some words in hanzi. There is one sentence
which states that "the Lord has eyes" and God is always watching all our actions . Another sentence also means "How many books we read, there will be no result if no intention and effort”. Grandfather was very nice and friendly when explaining the meaning of the sentences. It was such a pleasure to met them and talk with them.
